A financial services professional for nearly 50 years, Peter Smith started his Wall Street career as an equity research analyst at J&W Seligman and Co. He specialized in the consumer, retail and industrial sectors initially, though eventually dedicating his efforts to generalist research in the Small Cap area. He was elected Vice President and served as the research liaison for the company’s high net worth subsidiary.
Mr. Smith joined Dean Witter Reynolds in 1982 as an Institutional Equity Sales Professional covering major New York and Mid Atlantic based accounts. His coverage included Investment Advisors, Mutual Funds, Pension Funds, and Hedge Funds. He was named Senior Vice President and was a member of Dean Witter’s Stock Selection Committee.
In 1997 Mr. Smith joined Lehman Brothers as an Institutional Equity Sales Professional, again covering major New York based accounts and state pension funds. He served as a Co-Manager of New York Institutional Equity Sales for several years and was elected to Managing Director in 2002. In 2007 he oversaw the equity division’s initial Corporate Access efforts from the equity sales desk. Subsequently, he joined Lehman’s newly established Corporate Access initiative- Institutional Corporate Marketing (ICM). Following the Barclays acquisition of Lehman in 2009, Peter was named U.S. Head of ICM in 2009. During this time, he served as an originator of corporate mandates in the industrial, consumer, retail, and business services sectors as well as managing the US based dedicated sector teams. In 2013 Mr. Smith assumed the role of Senior Relationship Manager for ICM with responsibilities for group connectivity with both corporate clients and the firm’s equity, trading, and investment banking services.
Mr. Smith also served as Senior Co-Head of Barclays I undergraduate school recruiting teams for Georgetown University.
Mr. Smith is a past senior member of the New York Society of Security Analysts. He holds a B.A. in Economics from La Salle University where he currently mentors finance majors in La Salle’s School of Business. Mr. Smith also attended Seton Hall University School of Law.
